About the Spotlight
This class will focus on developing dance textures and learning how to add more intention to movement. We will also work on building confidence so that students can perform with greater presence. While growth and improvement are important goals, having fun will always be at the heart of the experience!
Hip Hop began forming as a culture and art movement in the Bronx of New York City in 1970. Hip hop dance is a range of street dance styles primarily performed to hip hop music or sub-genres of hip-hop music that has evolved as part of the hip hop culture with various elements of dance styles.
Suggested Wardrobe: Loose fitting pants or shorts, comfortable t-shirts or tank tops with a sports bra. Sneakers.
Suggested Experience:
6 months to 1 year experience recommended . Dancers should have a healthy understanding of basic Hip-Hop terminology, and understand musicality.

Get to know Ally
Ally is a choreographer and co-director of the San Jose-based team Commonality. With years of experience on professional teams, she developed a style rooted in storytelling, precision, and fluidity. In 2017, she co-founded Commonality, a dance team that has earned numerous recognition while making a lasting impact within the competitive dance community. Ally hopes to motivate dancers to trust their artistic instincts, and keep on dancing wholeheartedly.
