About the Spotlight:
Format of the class will start with an introduction with all students and then we'll move into a warm with groove exercises that will prepare you for choreography. We'll be learning the routine in different tempos and in groups to get used to the rhythm and flow of the movements. By the end, we'll have group performances and a cool down to thank our body for all of the hard work it's done!
My goals and intentions for this class is to give folks the chance to express themselves and find their character in the genre of hip hop we are trying out. I like to emphasize learning to perform movement from the very start of learning the piece.
What I want for students to get out of taking this class is first and foremost, their version of Fun; as someone whose dances for years I like to go and brush up my skills, learn something beyond my style. Someone new to dance could have a different goal than my own.

Get to know Faiza
Faiza Ahmad’s dance journey began at the age of 11, sparked by an impulsive decision to skip homework and tag along to her mother’s adult hip hop class at Mission Dance in Fremont. What started as quiet observation quickly turned into passion when the instructor told her, “If you’re going to be here, you need to start learning.” From that moment on, dance became her language of expression.
Throughout grade school and high school, Faiza immersed herself in movement and leadership—serving as Vice President of the Hip Hop Club and President of the Belly Dancing Club. Her exposure to a variety of dance styles deepened her versatility and drive. In college, she continued choreographing for showcases and became a member of VIP San Jose, a competitive South Bay team affiliated with Public Figures.
Today, Faiza brings her vibrant energy and creativity to Pop-Up Workshops with The Bay Club Company, sharing her love for East Coast hip hop and community-driven dance throughout the Bay Area. Her teaching philosophy is simple but powerful: “The goal is that you achieve yours.” Whether it’s mastering a move, performing with confidence, improving your skill, or simply having fun—if you showed up, you’ve already succeeded.
Dance now, think later.
