About the Spotlight:
The objective: to have fun in expression through African music and movements through class drills + exercises. Afro-dance is a choreography-based class with some freestyle elements. Afro dance is a huge umbrella of dance styles influenced by East, West, South, and Central Africa. In this workshop, you will learn the history and foundation, choreography, muscle memory, as well as stylized and freestyle movements.
The goal + intention for class is to:
1. Introduce Afrobeats music and street dancing styles to students/audience
2. Get students more comfortable with class drills and choreography
3. Ultimately to HAVE FUN!! Yes, we are in class to learn, but what is the point of dancing if we're not having fun? The more fun you have with the dance, the more "alive" the dance becomes.
