About the Spotlight
This contemporary jazz workshop focuses on building strong fundamentals for beginning and intermediate dancers. We’ll explore essential technique including turns, jumps, inversions, and floor work, with an emphasis on control, efficiency, and musicality. The class will also include choreography pickup to help dancers apply technique in a dynamic, movement-driven phrase.
Genre Description:
Contemporary Jazz is a dance form rooted from Africa that shares movement characteristics with classical ballet, modern dance and contemporary influences, and traditional jazz. This class starts with a full body warm up, core activation, across the floor, an int/adv class combo with an emphasis on personal expression and technique. This class will focus on a more enhanced routine with a chance for more performative jumps and turns to highlight skills, movement, and musicality.
Suggested Wardrobe:
Loose fitting pants or shorts, comfortable t-shirts or tank tops with a sports bra. Bare feet or socks.
Registration is required for this event. Please note that all sales for specialty classes are final. No refunds will be given for missed or forfeited classes.
