What we are looking for:

Our demos are 30 minutes (20 min mock class & 10min Q&A) each with the management team as your students, who will be evaluating you on:

  • Class flow

  • General instruction

  • Vocal projection

  • Attention to modifications (through injury or for beginners)

  • Interaction with students

In the 20-minutes, you will do a general warm-up, short teaching sequence, and possibly a short cool-down. The purpose is for us to get a sense of how you are in a normal class. Think of this as a truncated version of a full 60-minute class. After the 20 minute demo, the management team will ask you questions about your class in a 10 minute Q&A.

Demos will be scored on a scale of 1-5 for the following criteria:

  1. Foundations/History - Instructor possesses knowledge of the dance form their teaching. Is able to communicate the history in a clear manner and provide background to the style they’re teaching.

  2. Communication/ Verbal & Non-Verbal Cues - Instructor is clear and prompt in their cuing. Is able to effectively lead the class with a clear movement for non-verbal cuing. Instructor has great vocal projection

  3. Choreography - Is the choreography clean, motivating?  Does the choreography match the title of class?  Is the combo exciting, will our demographic of students enjoy this?

  4. Organization/Structure - Instructor has a clear teaching method in their class. Is effectively able to teach through counts and musicality. Instructors effectively and actively use terminology throughout their class when teaching.
