RECAP | Afro Dance (All Levels) w/ Bechir Ben Dheif

Updated: Aug 25

On behalf of Rae Studios we want to give a huge thank you to everyone that attended our Afro Dance Spotlight with Bechir! We were super excited to be able to have Bechir fly out and teach a spotlight with us. As a Tunisia-born self taught dancer, he has brought so much energy and community with his time with us, we're glad this is a space he can use to help others learn defined movement. Check out some of the photos and video from Sunday's class here.

Afro Dance, a set of dance styles incorporating spiritual and religious rituals into movement across the African Diaspora. This style of dance has rooted histories in Africa but has traveled across the west throughout the Atlantic Slave Trade, creating subsets such as Afro-American, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Brazilian, and other combinations through melodic dance movements to traditional instrumentations. In this class, Bechir expands on the importance of this historic style through a guided class on the foundations of Afro dance through music for students to learn more.

This sounds amazing! Will Rae Studios be bringing Bechir back for more Buckshot Roulette workshops in the future, or possibly expanding Afro Dance into a regular class offering?
