RECAP | Contemporary Technique Lecture & Workshop (All Levels) w/ Kait Skye

On behalf of Rae Studios we want to give a huge thank you to everyone that attended our Contemporary Technique Lecture and Workshop with Kait! This was Kait and Rae's first dance education workshop, so we're jazzed that she was able to mentor up and coming dancers with her years of knowledge and experience. During this event, students learned the cultural-historical origins of the style, were coached through body awareness and technique application, before engaging in strength conditioning and embodied practice of the day's lessons. Check out some of the photos and video from Saturday's here.

This 3-hour Spotlight Workshop with Kait is designed for dancers of all levels looking to deepen their technical foundation and bodily awareness through the lens of contemporary jazz. The workshop opens with a focused lecture covering core mechanics and body alignment, anatomical awareness, basic dance nutrition, and a brief overview of both Western/European and Afro/Eastern influences on jazz and contemporary dance.

In the next section, dancers will be guided through strength and conditioning designed to support safe and sustainable movement. The session ends with technique work and phrase-building that puts lecture theory into embodied practice. This is more than just a technique class - it’s a guided look into how we train, why we move the way we do, and where our movement comes from in the broader lineage of dance.

*Please bring a notebook and pen or a device to take notes during the lecture portion.

**This Spotlight Workshop also serves as a preview for potential longer-term dance education offerings - focused on pivotal moments in dance history, industry insights, and personalized mentorship to support dancers in navigating their own dance journeys.
