WHAT A SATURDAY! 3 hours of dance conditioning, training, technique, and confidence building. On behalf of Rae Studios, we are so grateful for all the dancers who came out to take Emmanuel's Dance Conditioning Workshop, we hope you left feeling stronger and more flexible.
The first hour was focused on flexibility and an introduction to Bartennief technique. The second hour was focused on strength building with center drills, using yoga blocks and resistance bands to build endurance. The last hour consisted of fun, improvisational ecstatic dancing to bring the energy back up along with across the floor exercises, touching base on jazz technique and getting into a fun african combination to tie everything together and demonstrate how one technique translates onto other dance genres.
Dance Conditioning is now being offered every Thursday at 5:30PM with Emmanuel, so if you're looking for ways to strengthen your body and gain flexibility, come check him out.

WORKSHOP DETAILS:

In this three hour Dance Conditioning Workshop, you will learn how to properly warm up the body from head to toe for strength and flexibility maximization and injury prevention. You will learn proper alignment with stretches and exercises in the center and then run some drills that will also help with coordination and strength building. The class will begin with cardio to get the blood pumping and to get the body warm, followed by deep stretches and poses that will help with your flexibility, then we will get into strength exercises that will help you target the correct muscle groups used specifically for dancing, and it will end with some across the floor combinations to tie everything together and will help translate the exercises into actual dance technique and movement. The goal of the class is to get dancers to understand the anatomy and physics of their body and introduce dancers to conditioning that they can take home with them to suit their specific dance goals. This class should be fun but challenging and full of sweat, so bring some water, a towel, and some snacks as we will have breaks in between segments.
