Miguel Zagal (@m_zagal27) | Inessence

Salsa (All Levels)

12:00pm-12:55pm

Miguel Zagal is a dynamic Latin dance instructor and performer with years of experience teaching and training dancers across different levels and backgrounds. Known for his precision, musicality, and commanding yet approachable teaching style, he brings a refined focus on technique, intentional movement, and performance quality to every class.

Miguel began building his teaching foundation in Texas, where he worked extensively with kids, developing strong fundamentals, discipline, and confidence through dance. His ability to break down movement and create an engaging learning environment has translated seamlessly into his work with adult dancers in the Bay Area, where he now trains and mentors students in a more advanced and performance-driven setting.

His training emphasizes body movement, shines, and partnerwork, guiding dancers to develop not only technical skill, but also presence and connection on the dance floor. Miguel creates high-energy, structured, and supportive classes that challenge dancers to grow while feeling encouraged throughout the process.

Passionate about continuous growth and artistic development, Miguel is committed to elevating every dancer he works with—whether they are just beginning their journey or refining advanced technique.

Salsa (All levels):

Salsa is a Latin dance, associated with the music genre of the same name, which was first popularized in the United States in the 1960s in New York City. This all-levels class dives into the most unique and beautiful characteristics of salsa dance without the complications of dancing with a partner. Movement focuses on building fundamental salsa footwork patterns, and then adding embellishments that will elevate your Latin dance style. Class begins with an easy warmup that progresses into a fun, choreographed routine with variations offered for different skill levels.

Poe Charukesnant (@silapoe) | Rae Studios

Hip Hop (Beginner)

1:00pm - 2:00pm

Poe Charukesnant is a professional dance instructor, choreographer, and performer with over 13 years of experience in teaching Hip Hop–based choreography rooted in Pop and R&B musicality. His classes emphasize performance quality, musicality, and authentic movements while creating an inclusive, high-energy environment where dancers feel supported to grow and express themselves.

Having taught multiple studios around the Bay Area, and as a temporary professor at UC Berkeley, Poe approaches dance as both an art form and a powerful tool for connection, confidence, and community building. He is passionate about nurturing young, aspiring dancers, helping students develop technical skills, stage presence, and creative voice while fostering collaboration and trust. Poe’s teaching blends discipline with freedom—challenging dancers to push their limits while celebrating individuality.

Hip Hop (All Levels):

Hip-Hop is an artistic and cultural movement that started in the 1970s in The Bronx of New York City by Black and Latiné youth who expressed joy through Hip-Hop during a time of oppression. Hip-Hop dance consists of Breaking (commercially known as Breakdancing) and Hip-Hop Party Moves (e.g., Bart Simpson, Biz Markie, Roger Rabbit, Running Man). In this class students will focus on a beginner-friendly Hip-Hop dance combo that will help with choreography, movement quality, retention and gaining an understanding of hip hop grooves and terminology. This course is a prerequisite requirement for many of our beginner/intermediate or intermediate/advanced classes. Prepare to take this class for at least 3-6 months before advancing to the next class.

Jasper Sanchez (@jasperdances) | Rae Studios

Shuffle (Beginner)

2:00pm - 3:00pm

Starting to dance in 2009 with clubs in schools I attended, I eventually found a career in dance in 2021. I’ve always been passionate about sharing my love, knowledge, & passion for dance with others over the years. ShuffleBreak is my unique mixture of Shuffling & Breakdancing. This performance will display both styles of dance as well as moments where they’re mixed together. I’m most appreciative for this opportunity & for those I have the pleasure of sharing the stage with.

Shuffle (Beginner):

Shuffle originated in Melbourne, Australia in the late 1980’s and was danced in the club scene to Electronic Dance music. Over the years shuffling has taken the world by storm from clubs to festivals. Shuffling is known to be inclusive, liberating, spiritual, free of judgment, and true expression. Shuffle Dance connects you with the music you love in a special way. In this class students will learn basic shuffle skills like the running man, and the T-step, while also learning to incorporate their own stylistic movements. Students can expect to learn shorter combos focusing on fundamentals and choreography retention.
