MEET THE INSTRUCTOR:

Stephanie Owen is a San Francisco native, and has been fortunate to build a dance career in the city that raised her. She started as a dance teaching artist, working for youth education programs in schools and dance studios, to choreographing for adult dance video workshops and parades. Her style of dance in choreography is versatile, as she grew up listening to Latin and Hip Hop music, and trained in Ballet, Contemporary, and Jazz while studying her BA in Dance from San Francisco State University. Coming back full circle, she feels inspired to teach and train in one of the first dance styles she learned growing up in the dance studio: Brazilian Samba.
WORKSHOP DETAILS:

Samba 101 - This class introduces Brazilian samba basics, and is open to all levels of dance. This 101 experience will provide a breadown of the samba steps and rhythm, focusing on the Samba No Pe style of dance. Class will incorporate dance drills and sequence of steps to better understand the body mechanics behind the fast paced footwork. Be ready to catwalk up and down the studio space to feel as though your in Rio's Carnaval parade! You will learn and peform choreography, with the goal of feeling confident in this high cardio and dynamic dance form!
