BOOMBOX SUNDAY RECAP | 5/2/2021

Event Recap:

On behalf of all of Rae Studios and The Bay Club SF, we want to say thank you to who all who came out and supported local artists in dance, movement, and wellness at our second outdoor event on Sunday, May 2nd. It was a beautiful sunny day, and the energy was literally THROUGH THE ROOF during all 3 of our classes overlooking a view of the Bay!


We'd like to take a moment to highlight our incredible instructors! Our fearless leader herself, Jessica Rae had all our booties on FIRE-all our muscles today are feeling nice and toned thanks to her Barre Mat Bootcamp class! Shruthi and Chandni's SOLD OUT maximum capacity on the Bay Club roof class was the ultimate BollyX party! Everyone was stomping their feet, cheering, singing, and laughing. I'm sure we were heard all across the Bay! Finally, what a finale once again with none other than the one and only Jeremy Jones! Everyone gave a non-stop cardio dance performance worthy of a world tour! LET'S GO!!! Thank you to this fabulous #RaeCrew once again. We are sure we'll see this lineup at another Boombox Sunday SOON! ;)

About Boombox Weekend:


BOOMBOX WEEKEND IS HERE 🎉


We've partnered with Bay Club to offer a special monthly fitness & dance experience, bringing back "Boombox Sunday", The Rooftop Edition and adapting it to "Boombox Weekend". In this event, you will have access to back-to-back classes featuring a rotating roster of instructors. The gorgeous space overlooks downtown San Francisco, with full covered turf and offers a wide range of fitness supplies including yoga mats, free weights, We will be communicating non-stop beats using Silent Disco headsets and provide a hydration station along with snacks between your classes. To ensure safety procedures, space will be limited. We highly encourage you to RSVP soon to ensure your seat.


Your FULL WEEKEND PASSES ticket gives you access to all the classes during the weekend, stay for 1 or for all, or purchase our single day/class ticket for one day/class! No ins/outs. Face masks, temperature checks, social distancing, and registration are required for this event.

Meet the Team of Amazing Instructors:

JJ The Killah Ghera


Born and raised and in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA this also home to where J.J. started his dance career. Working in local productions such as Grease, and Chicago. Straight out of high school he moved to Los Angeles, CA where he trained at Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio & Millennium Dance Complex training in styles such as Jazz, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Whacking, Voguing, and House. Training with industry professionals led to opportunities to work with people such as Howie Mandel, NappyTabs, and Jaquel Knight, Matt Cady, and many more; all while attending college at Cal State Northridge, where he earned his degree in Kinesiology and Dance. After 6 years in L.A. J.J. moved across the pond to London, UK, and signed to Box Artist Management (B.A.M.) Agency where he worked with artists such as Little Mix, and Rebecca Ferguson and danced on Britain's Got Talent. He was also co-director of Studio 68's Training Academy, teaching and molding dancers who were looking to get into the professional dance industry!

In 2014 J.J. moved back to the Bay Area where he continues to teach and

inspire others through his knowledge, skills, and passion.


Jazz

Learn choreography from jazz turns, kicks, and leap steps along with popular simple rhythm techniques to popular and age-appropriate music of today.

Jordan Singletary


Jordan Singletary is a powerhouse of versatility and passion. After high school, she spent 4 years on NBA’s Phoenix Suns pro dance team and WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury Hip Hop Squad. The experience allowed her to travel overseas, choreograph routines, and host live game entertainment. She proceeded to acquire her 200 hr yoga certification and dove deeply into the philosophies and benefits of yoga. She now teaches dance and yoga classes in the Bay Area. She blends her background of dance and yoga into artfully articulated classes. In any style class, students will expect to be challenged in a safe, supportive, and uplifting environment. Guiding others on how to get out of their heads, and into their bodies.


Heels

Unleash the inner sassy queen that has been hiding in this upbeat high energy heels class! This class is all about building confidence and feeling EMPOWERED. Students will learn sexy and fierce heels combos, broken down piece by piece, while learning the art of performance and tapping into your unique style and flavor.

Libby Miga


If there is one thing that makes Libby come alive, it is dancing. Libby’s background in dance includes West African, classical ballet, hip hop, Jamaican Dancehall and Hula Hoop dance. She enjoys fusing various world dance styles in her choreography and has regularly taught her signature “dancehall grooves” class at Rae for over 4 years. Libby is a full- time dance artist who created her career while signed to Rae Agency and she is now living in LA.

Dancehall

This class is steps & grooves only! Whether you’re new to dancehall or want to review your favorite dancehall steps, this class is a chance for true dancehall lovers to slow down and focus on technique. In addition to step breakdowns, you will learn the name and creator of each step.

Tessa Trowbridge

Born and raised on the beaches of Santa Cruz California, Tessa grew up a sandy & bikini-clad 3rd generation dancer. Tessa devoted her entire youth to dance and has been dancing competitively since she was 6 years old, trained classically in ballet, jazz, tap, and hip-hop. In high school, she and her dance team toured Europe with the Tanzsommer Dance Festival, performing in Innsbruck Austria, Paris, Euro Disney, and throughout Germany.

She attended the University of San Francisco for college where she fell in love with group fitness classes and became a gym junkie. Her fitness journey evolved into becoming a crossfit devotee, competing in local and national crossfit competitions for the last 6 years. She loves the satisfaction of a grueling workout, the weight of a heavy barbell, and the sassy energy of a heels class!


When she’s not teaching she is selling wine, painting, dancing, lifting, wakeboarding and chasing the sun in tropical locations.


Bootcamp

An interval training class that mixes calisthenics, dumbbell, and bodyweight exercises with cardio and strength training to build lean sculpted muscles. These classes are designed to get your heart pumping, sweating, and get you to pusher harder than you have ever before.

Chandni Patel

Chandni is a BollyX instructor based out of San Francisco who has loved to dance for as long as she can remember! While moving around the country as a young kid, she stayed connected to dance through the addictive energy of Bollywood music. In the Bay Area, she competed with a Garba/Raas (a high-energy Indian folk style) team for a few years while also falling in love with dance fitness classes of different styles such as Zumba and U-Jam. Once she was introduced to the BollyX format, she knew it was the PERFECT fit for her and became a certified instructor in 2015! Since then, Chandni has loved to share her passion for dance and fitness through BollyX because people of all dance experience levels can join in, have fun, and get a great cardio workout! Besides Bollywood, Chandni also likes to train in different dance styles with particular interest in Dancehall, Afrobeats/fusion, and Reggaeton.


Shruthi Reddy

Shruthi Reddy started dancing since the age of 3 and has been an athlete almost all her life. Dance workouts bring both her worlds of dance and fitness together. Shruthi is a Bollywood dancer, wedding choreographer, entertainer, and certified BollyX and cardio fitness instructor. She teaches at corporate facilities, Bayclubs, and hosts team building events. She teaches BollyX, a Bollywood inspired dance workout, at Rae Studios. Dance is a way she lets her soul speak with the community around her.


BollyX

Bollywood dance Workout is a Bollywood Inspired Dance fitness class. We are inspired and driven by the heart-pumping, energetic rhythms of Bollywood, the film industry of India. We cross dynamic choreography with high-intensity interval training, burning up to 800 calories per 50 minute session

Jeremy Jones

Jeremy Jone Lawson began his career as a dancer in Spring 2008 at the University of Memphis. Since then he has trained in different studios throughout the Memphis community. He joined Bridging Souls Production Dance Company (BSP) fall of 2010 under the direction of Tamara Parish and quickly became the Rehearsal Director.


​With a musical theatre background, Jeremy has performed in several productions ie: Regional Premier of “The Color Purple” By Alice Walker. With the combination of dance, Jeremy has found time to also work with different community leaders and national non-profit organizations. Such as The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis, as the Performing Arts Coordinator.


Jeremy moved to San Francisco in 2014 to pursue his career in dance and fitness. Since his move he has worked with several dance companies; including RAE Studios, Danse Lumiere Contemporary Ballet Co, Performing Arts Academy of Marin, and working as one of the Cardio Hip Hop instructors & Assistant Director of the Youth Dance Program at New Style MotherLode International Dance Co. Lastly one of Lawson’s most proud accomplishments is being a dad to his two little girls Janie & Jordyn Lawson

Cardio Hip Hop

Cardio HIP-HOP is an all-levels class. This is a high-impact class that allows everyone to SWEAT, Smile, and Move. CHH is both a Cardio & Choreography. We will be STACKING multiple 8 count phrases and repeat them throughout the class to a variety of songs. By the end of the class not only will you have reached your Cardio Fitness Goal but you will have also learned a fully choreographed dance number.
