Rae Studios is ending the year with a showcase and we're inviting you to participate! Join one of our artists in a training series resulting in a culminating showcase in December. Workshops are in Belly Dance, Brazilian Pop, Contemporary, K-Pop, Hip Hop (Beg/Int and Int/Adv), Musical Theatre, and Pop Jam.


Location: Rehearsals and Showcase are at Rae Studios, 414 Mason St. 705 San Francisco, CA 94102


DATES: Workshops are held between October 9th-December 3rd. The showcase is Saturday, December 4th, 2021. See individual workshop for details of dates and rehearsal times.

Rae Studios is launching a performance workshop series. Each workshop series instructor is highly trained and knowledgeable in their practice and will guide you through a series of rehearsals to build a deeper relationship in their movement background. At the end of the series, Rae Studios is hosting a Holiday Party featuring all of our performance workshop series instructors and students.


As a participant, you will receive personalized training, feedback, and resources from our instructors. You'll learn, rehearse, and perform a set personally made for your cohort. You'll also have the chance to show your friends and family all the progress you've made in your workshop series.

Guidelines and Policies:

  • Students are expected to attend all the weekly sessions for their registered workshop series. Students must be available for the showcase date.

  • Attendance policy - Any missed session will be forfeited and credits are not transferable. Missing more than one session may result in being removed from the workshop series and/or showcase date.

  • Students are expected to provide their own makeup and outfit for the showcase unless indicated otherwise by the instructor or management team.

  • Students must show proof of vaccination and wear a mask during rehearsals.

  • Students are encouraged to invite friends and family to see the showcase.

Jessica Rae

Pop Jam [Intermediate]*

Jessica Rae is the owner and director of Rae Model & Talent Agency LLC and Rae Studios, a local dance and fitness studio located in San Francisco's Union Square. Jessica's teaching dance background and certifications include Cardio Dance, Cize Live, Pound Pro, Kickboxing, and Barre along with various styles of dance choreography.

Currently, Jessica teaches weekly classes at Rae Studios, Studiomix, Bay Club & GAP HQ along with various brands/clients like Athleta, William Sonoma, Airbnb, Facebook, Lorna Jane, Lucy, Marriott, Crunch Gym & W Hotel. In addition to her teaching background, Jessica's has also been seen dancing for celebrity artists like Lady Gaga, Ludacris, Kid Rock, E-40 and Too Short.

On her spare time, she enjoys training through martial arts and kickboxing!

Catch your favorite Pop Classics from artists like Sam Smith, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, and Bishop Briggs! Learn intermediate choreography combos, performance execution, and dancing outside your comfort zone. Class includes standing and floor work.

Kevin Wong

Contemporary [Intermediate]

Sundays 12:00pm-1:30pm PT

Kevin Wong, from San Francisco, California, is a Dance Major and Education minor graduate from the University of California, Riverside. He has been dancing for eighteen-years in Chinese Folk with the Flying Angels Chinese Dance Company. In high school, he was introduced to modern, ballet, jazz, and hip hop by Wendy Jones, founder of the Lowell Dance Company. During his college years, he directed Collective Faction Hip Hop Dance Team, performed in the Gluck Contemporary Dance Ensemble, and supported many of the UCR Dance productions. In addition to his performing body, Kevin has trained his dancing body in modern, ballet, hip hop, West African, Capoeira Angola, improvisation, and breaking. After graduating college, Kevin participated in SAFEhouse Winter 2019 RAW and year-long AIRSPACE residency programs, revitalized the Shawl-Anderson Dance Center Teen Hip Hop classes, and performed with Project M, an all male hip hop dance team, STEAMROLLER, a contemporary dance group, and with his collaborating partner Mathew Wong. Currently, he is the Artistic Director of Flying Angels Chinese Dance Company, teaches with the HeART with LINES program, and leads weekly adult Choreography and Zumba classes.

Most of his classes focus on building and developing three elements of a dancer: choreographing, performing, and improvising. Kevin hopes to continue his artistic practice of experimenting and researching dance by asking questions, reflecting on different approaches, and offering time and space for others to explore.


Contemporary [Intermediate]

A choreographed dance class. Learn rhythmic movements that combine stretching, technique, floor work, and guided improvisation. The class gives an experimental flow to create a unique foundation for storytelling and human expression through acrobatic athleticism. Knee pads recommended. Suggested footwear: Socks, Barefoot, Foot undies.

Korea Venters

Beginner / Intermediate Hip Hop [Beg / Int]

Tuesdays 8:30pm-10:00pm PT

Originally from Oakland, California says her love for dance started in middle school while attending Oakland School for the Arts. Korea Venters graduated from the University of San Francisco, majoring in Performing Arts and Social Justice, with a concentration in Dance. She is a current dance instructor at K Star Productions, Rae Studios, & Shawl-Anderson Dance Center. As a current member of both Rae Agency Dance Company and See Through Soul Dance Company, she hopes to continue using her art as a platform for community healing and outreach. She has performed at many festivals including Art & Soul Festival, Black Choreographers Festival, Broad Statements Dance Festival, SF international Hip Hop Festival, and Versa-Style LA Hip Hop Dance Festival.


Beginner / Intermediate Hip Hop [Beg / Int]

A bridge between beginner and intermediate choreography. We will introduce you to more complex techniques and concepts such as textures and musicality. This class will help push you out of your comfort zone and expand your dance vocabulary.

Lydia Chon

K-Pop [Beg / Int]

Tuesdays 8:30pm-10:00pm PT

Lydia is a 24 year old New Orleans native who has lived in the Bay Area for over two years. She has danced for over 11 years and is trained in jazz, ballet, contemporary, and hip hop where she danced competitively on a dance team. She was also part of the All-Star Dance Team where she performed in international countries. With her love for K-Pop, she currently teaches Beginner/Intermediate K-Pop classes where she can teach you your favorite K-Pop choreo. Currently, she is represented by Rae Dance Agency.


K-Pop [Beg / Int]

Beginner / Intermediate K-Pop is open to all levels. This class is for you if you want to feel like you are starring in your own K-Pop MV. This class will highlight some choreography from some of your favorite K-Pop Idols(e.g., Twice, BTS, Blackpink, etc).

Mariel Aquino

Intermediate/Advanced Hip Hop [Int / Adv]

Wednesdays 8:45pm-10:15pm PT

Mariel is a Chicago-born 23-year-old that has loved dancing and expression her whole life. She got her start experimenting with choreography with friends in high school, then went on to dance competitive hip hop at Cal. Finding great joy in creating and communicating with groups, she went on to choreograph for various competition and exhibition teams in the Berkeley Dance Community. She's been active in the Chicago and Berkeley hip hop dance scenes and trains in LA when able. In terms of choreography, Mariel draws inspiration from commercial and lyrical hip hop, as well as R&B and 90s grooves. Outside of this, she is currently training in ballet to push her artistic discipline, technique, and athleticism. Ultimately, she aims to offer a class that is not only great exercise, but a safe space to practice creative expression, making mistakes, and enjoying the process!


Intermediate / Advanced Hip Hop [Int / Adv]

Leonardo Fonseca

Brazilian Pop (Beg/Int)

Thursdays 8:45pm-10:15pm PT

Born and raised in Brazil, Leo started dancing for fun at school presentations but soon was spotted by a dance teacher who invited him to join one of the famous dance groups in Brazil called "Tribo Cia de Dança", in 2010. There, he was introduced to hip-hop, street jazz, and dance hall. With time, he started to introduce the same dance styles to kids as a regular teacher for years in different dance studios.


He also participated in several dance festivals all over Brazil, competitions with the dance crew, and was a backup dancer for famous drag queens in nightclubs shows. He recently participated as a backup dancer in the 2019 San Francisco LGBTQIA+ Pride Parade with one of the most famous Brazilian artists today, Pabllo Vittar.


Currently, he holds a project of free dance classes for Brazilians at Dolores Park. He is passionate about his culture and he uses dance to bring his Brazilian community together, lessening the effects of inevitable homesickness.

Brazilian Pop [Beg / Int]

A choreographed dance class. Learn popular Brazilian dance moves through simple routines from music genres such as funk, techno "Brega", and electro beats with the trending songs the way they are done in Brazil. With this spicy class, come in style and we'll all think we're in Brazil!

Lara Jean Sullivan

Musical Theatre [All Levels]

Lara Jean Is an International Award winning actress and dancer from San Francisco, California. She spent most of her early years performing as a ballerina and working as a dance assistant to Brian Friedman, Mia Michaels, and Sonya Tayeh before being accepted into the prestigious Purchase Conservatory in New York City. This SUNY Purchase Conservatory Graduate got her start Puppeteering, singing and performing as Elmo for Sesame Street Live. While touring she landed her first Lead role in a Feature Film for "2 Jennifer". It was then Lara Jean made a name for herself in the Independent Film Industry. She was then asked to choreograph for Bravo Channel and Oxygen Network. From there, she was asked to team up with DANCE USA and give classes around the world. Now she is back in San Francisco working on her next film and choreographing on another. She is excited to join us here at Rae Studios and bring you her style of dance.

Musical Theatre [All Levels]

Musical Theater Dance class is a Fosse based dance with a twist, developing rhythm through dance combinations and voice exercise to improve overall performance quality. Students will be exposed to various styles of movements rooted in the diverse history of Broadway Musicals. Class includes fast-paced warm-up focused on core strength, technique, and stretching.

Andrea Sendek

Bellydance Tabla Solo [Beg/Int]

With a rich background in the performing arts, Andrea Sendek brings a lifetime of passionate involvement in acting, music, and dance to her role as Teacher, Performer, Choreographer, and Director.


Andrea integrates philosophies into her work learned from training and performing, for over 2 decades, belly dance and other dance genres. Andrea began learning belly dance with Mesmera in Los Angeles from 1996-2004. In 2004 she relocated to the Bay Area and began her studies at The Salimpour School of Dance where for 10 years she trained under and assisted both Jamilla & Suhaila Salimpour. Since 2015 Andrea has been learning Arabic drumming and music with Susu Pampanin and Amina Goodyear. In June of 2021, Andrea began studying extensively with Egyptian master Tommy King. She Has taken countless workshops from Egyptian teachers throughout the years some of which include, Dandesh, Yossry El Hefni, Karim Nagi, Tito, Adia Nour, and Mohammed Shahin. Andrea received certificates for completing Shara Saeeda’s Journey Through Egypt courses 1 & 2, her Suhaila Level 4 Advanced Performer Certificate, and her Jamilla Level 3 Certificate.

As a performer, Andrea has an extensive and rich performance background. Some notable performance venues are The Palace of Fine Arts, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Brava Theatre, and The Shelton Theatre. She has performed and taught across the United States and internationally; some highlights of her itinerary include appearances in Japan, Hong

Bellydance Tabla Solo [Beg/Int]

Come learn this sensual, fluid, and emotive dance form in a safe and energetic environment. This class is suitable for all skill levels and we will cover basic technique, introduce layering, and learn a Bellydance Drum routine without the cymbals! All Levels Welcome.
