6/5: RECENT NEWS: "ARTS & UNITY" FUNDRAISER RECAP

Hello Rae Community,

UPDATE 6/24/2020*

We wanted to let you all know that as we were issuing out our donations, we were unable to get the right information to donate to Black Earth Farms. We attempted an electronic donation and the payment bounced back, and we did not receive a reply when asking for a mailing address. With that in mind, we have decided to donate to City of Dreams instead! We are really excited to support City of Dreams as they provide mentorship and youth development for low-income housing communities. We appreciate you all understanding as we made this change.

A huge thank you to our friends, family, and supporters for making our first “Arts & Unity” Fundraiser in Honor of Black Lives Matter a huge success! It’s up to all of us to do our part in supporting this movement and we couldn’t have done it without you! Our benefit classes received 125 reservations, raising a total of $1492 and now with our EventBrite donations we reached our goal of raising $2000. Our work is not done yet though. Continue educating yourself, stay informed, and support the movement! It is up to all of us to take steps in the right direction together. Check out the local frontline organizations we are donating to: CITY OF DREAMS & BLACK VISIONS COLLECTIVE.

6/2: BLACK OUT TUESDAY | TAKING A SOCIAL STANCE

BLACKOUT TUESDAY (JUNE 2ND, 2020)

We ask our instructors and community to join us this Tuesday, June 2nd for the “Tuesday Black Out” stance in solidarity of the recent deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor among may others. “We stand with the Black Community - our employees, our partners, artists, and creators - in the fight against racism, injustice and inequality.”

The music industry is asking everyone to disconnect from work and to connect to our community. We as leaders in the dance community will support by:

  1. Suspending all music streams and YouTube streams for the day

  2. Canceling all classes on Tuesday, June 2nd.

  3. No posing on Social Media

  4. Only post a BLANK BLACK image on all social media platforms for solidarity

  5. DO NOT USE #BLACKLIVESMATTER - INSTEAD USE: #BLACKOUTTUESDAY

Here is a link to the Billboard’s article on Blackout Tuesday. Here is a link to an IG post about Blackout Tuesday.

With that, we created this blog post with some resources / links for you to reference. We understand that there are many more ways to support this movement, educationally, creating awareness, social platforms, fundraising and most importantly voicing our racial injustices. We will continue to update this page with more information as we work around the clock to support our teachers and community. Contact us at jrae@raeagency.com
