As a More Than Movement (MTM) intern, you will support our mission of decolonizing dance spaces through community building, education, and anti-racism work. We provide opportunities for Rae Studios’ instructors and staff to grow their teaching skills and social advocacy, as well as educate the Rae Studios community about dance history, culture, and foundation.
About the Internship
Primary Responsibilities:
Support MTM events and workshops
Maintain and organize MTM resources
Research potential partners, collaborators, instructors, etc that align with MTM’s mission
Support fundraising efforts
Support communications to the broader dance community about what MTM is and does
Build social media presence
Tabling for MTM during weekly classes
Expected time commitment per week:
2 hours + biweekly More Than Movement meeting (In-person at Rae Studios on the 2nd Friday of every month & virtual on the 4th Friday of every month)
Expected duration of internship:
9 month commitment
Preferred qualifications:
Passionate, detail-oriented, and collaborative teammate
Experience creating social media content and promotional materials on Canva
Experience writing blog posts and social media captions
Familiarity with the Bay Area dance community

Compensation:
This internship will be compensated through credit to Rae Studios classes. (1hr work credit = 1hr class credit).

Rae Studios’ More Than Movement is a professional development program dedicated to helping instructors and staff grow as artists and individuals. More Than Movement is committed to building an inclusive movement environment for the Rae Studios community through curated resources, educational workshops, guest speakers, and special events. We focus on the following topics to achieve this goal: being responsible and respectful guests of Black dance forms (e.g., Hip-Hop, Jazz), educating our students on the history and culture of dance forms from around the world, addressing implicit and explicit biases (e.g., sizeism/fatphobia), and many more!
