On behalf of all of us at Rae Studio's More Than Movement, a huge thank you to everyone for attending our very special Support Our Styles: Holi Edition!
We are grateful for all of our instructors, students, and staff who helped make this event possible. The inspiration behind this event was to send a love letter to Rae Studios' Bollywood community and provide them with a day of joy, dance, and color. We hope our Bollywood community was able to appreciate the special event!
For this event, we offered three incredible all-level workshops including:
Bollywood Funk Choreo [All Levels] with Kimaya
In addition to the workshops, we offered snacks for folks since eating sweets is a common tradition for Holi events. We brought a combination of colorful treats like skittles, gummy worms, and rainbow m&m cookies to commemorate the colorful festival as well as traditional treats like Besan Ladoo, Coconut Ladoo and Burfi,
Since we could not bring powder to the studio, we invited folks to dress colorfully for the event. We also supplied 200 rainbow clips for everyone to wear in their hair!
To help us continue developing these educational workshops, please take 3 minutes to complete this google form asking for your feedback on the event.

-Past Event Workshop-
In honor of Holi 2023, More Than Movement is proud to present a new event, Support Our Styles: Holi Edition!
Holi has been celebrated in the Indian subcontinent for centuries. It marks the beginning of spring after a long winter, symbolic of the triumph of good over evil. It is celebrated in March in accordance with the last full moon per the Hindu calendar, this year it will be celebrated March 8th.
To celebrate, people throw colored powder and water balloons on each other. In the streets of India you'll often see water balloons dropping from rooftops, and you can't get away without being marked with colored powder. The day ends with families and neighbors gathering over a festive meal and sweets. While we won't be supplying colored powder for this event, there are other ways you can bring color to the studio! See below for more info.
Support Our Styles aka S.O.S. is an event hosted by More Than Movement dedicated to highlighting the culture, history, and foundation of the various street styles that continue to exist in our communities today. To celebrate Rae Studios' incredible Bollywood community, we are hosting a special edition of S.O.S. as a love letter to you!
Classes are all levels and welcome to all! Whether this is your first or thousandth Bollywood class, come celebrate this colorful holiday with us. More information about our instructors and their class below.

About the Instructors:
Sanjana (she/her) has trained in Bharatanatyam (Indian Classical dance) for over 15 years and completed her Arangatrum (dance graduation) in 2010. She has experience choreographing Bharatanatyam, Semi-Classical, Bollywood and Hip-Hop routines for her college's Bollywood Fusion Dance team. Since college, Sanj has started a Youtube channel to showcase her choreography and has started choreographing for weddings. She loves teaching at Rae Studios and hopes to share her culture through dance with her students.

You will always find Kimaya (she/her) dancing whether in class or at her work. A Seattle native, she grew up dancing all different styles including Bollywood and Kathak. She continued dancing recreationally as part of her college hip-hop team and began teaching when she moved to SF. Her absolute favorite thing about teaching has been creating Bollywood Fusion choreography that melts hip-hop movements with Bollywood flair to bring her favorite aspects of the two together. She likes to make her choreography fun and intricate but also accessible so that everyone can have fun in class!

Anushya (she/her) has been dancing since she was 5 (or for 3 decades!). She started with Indian classical dance and then began choreographing everything Bollywood at the age of 14. Anushya participated in Bhangra, Raas, and fusion dance teams in college. She trained to be a Bollyx instructor almost 10 years ago, started choreographing for the format 8 years ago, and has been working for the HQ office in various roles since they were prepping to be on Shark Tank back in 2018!
Linden Cady (she/her) is a dance and movement educator and ACE-certified group fitness instructor living in San Francisco. She has ten years of experience teaching dance and dance specializing in BollyX- The Bollywood Workout, cardio dance, and pop choreography. She is currently a Community Mentor for BollyX, training and mentoring new instructors.
